Donny Paik - Shop Mechanic, Driller
Since beginning his employment at Discovery in 2010, Donny has grown into an exceptional mechanic, welder, and fabricator. As Eric's right-hand-man, Donny assists our shop foreman with all things in the realm of maintenance. From routine, scheduled preventive maintenance, to complicated equipment repairs, Donny is involved with every aspect of keeping our ever-growing fleet running. A truly self-motivated individual, Donny not only actively seeks out ways to make our equipment operate at maximum efficiency, but also ensures that the equipment is safe for our drillers to utilize.
Darrin VanDehey - Driller
Darrin became part of the Discovery family in 2004, and his technical capacity enabled him to quickly rise to the top of our ranks. His high level of dependability and ability to "adapt and overcome" have made him one of our most relied upon drillers. He displays a high level of mastery over all of our drilling platforms and downhole tooling, and is also a talented mechanic and fabricator. There is no job that falls outside of Darrin's capabilities, and he actively seeks out the most complicated work to further himself as a driller. When not in the field, Darrin can be found here in the shop refurbishing and modernizing our older machines.
Richard (Dick) Banzhaf - Driller
Dick has been an integral part of Discovery Drilling since the year 2000, and has grown into one of our most capable and relied upon drillers. When not giving the guys in the office a hard time, he can be found in the field tackling some of the most challenging projects that our company finds itself involved in. He is also heavily involved with our geotechnical drilling efforts on the North Slope, and has logged more hours there than quite possibly any other driller here at Discovery. The bastion of integrity, Dick's honesty, loyalty, and work ethic are rivaled only by his capacity to be, quite possibly, the nicest person you'll ever meet. His son, Clinton Banzhaf, is a Geotechnical Engineer at Northern Geotechnical Engineering, and you can often find the father and son team in the field collecting and logging soil samples together.
DJ Wardwell - Operations Manager, Driller
DJ spent 13 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Tactical Data Systems Technician, serving along side Keeter for several of these years. He is also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Along with Keeter, he came to Alaska in 2010 and began working at Discovery Drilling shortly thereafter. DJ developed a passion for Geoprobes, incorporating them in ways that were previously thought of as unconventional. This ultimately resulted in the addition of several more Geoprobes to the company's roster. Although he can still be found in the field from time to time, he spends the majority of his days assisting Kyle, Mark, and Keeter with managing the business and operations. He also coordinates and implements training for the company's employees and acts as the company HR representative.
Mark Terry - General Manager
Mark has over 36 years of experience in the drilling industry, covering all phases of drilling operations. His experiences range from winter time refrigerated coring in the Alaskan Interior, to serving as Vice President of a 100+ employee drilling firm in California. Mark is a licensed driller in the states of Oregon and Washington, and is an active member of the National Ground Water Association. Mark began working at Discovery Drilling in 1993, helping Kyle manage the day to day operations as the company continued to grow. He has become an integral part of Discovery Drilling, ensuring jobs are efficiently planned and executed, and maintaining a thorough oversight of every facet of the business.
Keeter Brown - Vice President
Keeter began work at Discovery Drilling in 2010, after completing a 5 year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps as a Tactical Data Systems Technician. He is also a veteran of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He helps manage every facet of the business, from operations and logistics, to client support. Keeter also took it upon himself to modernize the office environment at Discovery Drilling, and acts at the resident IT professional on top of his other duties. Keeter stays heavily involved with operational planning and coordination, and played a very large role in the success and efficiency of drilling operations in support of the Alaska Stand-Alone Pipeline project in 2014 and 2015.
Eric Brown - Shop Foreman
Eric began work at Discovery Drilling in 1990, and grew into a very professional, resourceful, and efficient driller. His mechanical abilities far surpassed that of his peers, and this led to him taking over the role of Shop Foreman in 2005. Eric meticulously manages and maintains an in-depth maintenance cycle for Discovery's equipment fleet, and he is the real reason that our stuff isn't coming apart at the seams. Also an experienced fabricator, Eric's exceptional handy work can be seen on just about every drill we field.
Derek Dell - Driller
Derek joined the ranks of Discovery Drilling back in 2012, and while having no previous drilling experience, his ability to rapidly learn, retain, and apply new skills and techniques set him on a fast track to becoming a driller. A few years later, Derek was well on his way to becoming one of our most capable and resourceful Geoprobe Operators, and he can also be found operating our various other drill platforms as well. He is responsible for the successful completion of many challenging projects in remote locations such as Kivilina, Cold Bay, Wainwright, and more. Derek's knack for overcoming obstacles and adapting to challenging situations, combined with his intelligence and a positive attitude, has placed him at the forefront of many complicated projects.
Adam Saunders - Driller
Hailing from Big Lake, Alaska, Adam has been part of the Discovery team since 2007. He takes on a large amount of our drilling operations in the Mat-Su Valley, many of which are conducted with tracked drill rigs due to challenging off-road access. Adam has also been involved in many remote jobs in Villages, offshore work, and helicopter supported drilling over the years. When not on the job, Adam can often be found enjoying the great Alaskan outdoors and the exceptional fishing that goes along with it.
Gary Erickson - Driller
Mr. Erickson has been here since almost the beginning, joining up with Kyle's small, but growing business all the way back in 1988. A glutton for punishment, Gary enthusiastically seeks assignment to the most difficult of jobs in remote locations and harsh environments. The definition of tenacity, he is a master of overcoming obstacles that others would view as impassible road blocks. There is no piece of equipment in our fleet that Gary cannot competently operate. That fact, combined with his sense of adventure and love of a good challenge, has led Gary to see more of our great State's glorious expanse than any other driller here at Discovery.

Jennifer Aragon - Office Manager
Keeping us all in line since 2014, Jennifer has become a welcome addition to the Discovery team. Her contagious positive attitude helps keep the stress of the office environment to a minimum, and she does a wonderful job of keeping Keeter's spirits up by pretending his jokes are funny. She manages and records the countless monetary day-to-day transactions, keeping the books in good order. Her duties include, but are certainly not limited to, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, keepin' it real, and whatever daily fires need to be put out around the office.
Kyle Brown - President & Owner
Kyle started Discovery Drilling Inc back in 1984, acquiring his first drill rig and using a baby blue Volkswagen Rabbit as a support "truck". Starting from scratch, Kyle was the company's driller, mechanic, and accountant for the first six years or so. His hard work paid off, building the foundation for the successful business that is Discovery Drilling today. He has many years of geotechnical, environmental, and production core drilling under his belt. A true subject matter expert, Kyle is the bastion of knowledge and experience we all look to when a problem doesn't seem to have a solution. He is also an experienced fabricator, and when not in the office, he can be found in his shop building everything from brine chillers for refrigerated coring to environmental remediation systems.
Clifford (Gary) Cormier - Senior Driller
Gary began his extensive drilling career at the age of 15 in northern Maine. A core driller by trade, he has worked all around the US, and eventually made his way to Alaska in the early 1980's. He began his employment at Discovery Drilling in 1991, and has been an integral part of the company ever since. He is consistently assigned the most challenging, technical, and demanding jobs our Clients have to offer, and we have come to expect nothing less than excellence from Mr. Cormier. A true master of his trade, Gary displays an unparalleled level of knowledge and expertise in regards to all forms of drilling. His positive attitude, and ability to make everyone laugh in even the most miserable of climates, has made Gary a real favorite with our Clients. He also proudly boasts the award for "Most Fabulous Mustache at Discovery Drilling."

Scott Bombard - Driller
With arguably the most positive attitude on the Discovery roster, Scott has been making us smile and laugh since he came aboard back in 2013. He started his employment as a driller's helper, but has since moved into the role of driller after demonstrating a level of competency rarely seen in someone of his experience level. Scott is one of our heavily relied upon Geoprobe operators, and has continually demonstrated an ability to adapt and overcome when faced with challenging situations. Hard-working, dedicated, loyal, and an all-around good guy, Scott continues to advance his skill-set as we continue to throw more and more challenging work his way.
